Our Worship Services

Sunday Morning Worship

We offer three worship experiences on Sunday morning at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m.  The 8:00 worship service is very traditional.  The 9:30 worship service is contemporary and more casual.  The 11:00 worship service features a blended style that brings together both traditional hymns with contemporary praise music.

Our Praise Team lead our praise music at the 11:00 worship service.  The music at the 9:30 worship service is lead by our Praise Band. The Early Bird Choir presents the Gospel in music during the 8:00 worship service on the second and third Sunday mornings.  And the Chancel Choir shares the gift of music during the 11:00 worship service. From time to time, the Handbell Choir, Orchestra, and Children’s Choir share their talents with us.

We offer an attended nursery during the 9:30 and 11:00 worship services for children up to age 3 (including infants).

Every Sunday the congregation is encouraged to stay for a time of fellowship and refreshments after each worship service

Wednesday Prayer & Praise

Following our J.O.Y. Program, we come together for Prayer and Praise Worship at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings in the Chapel.  It is a time of prayer and praise as we sing our favorites, hear the Word of God, and pray together.

Holy Communion

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is normally celebrated on the first Sunday of the month.  We practice open communion where “Christ invites to His table all who love Him, who earnestly repent of their sins and seek to live in peace with one another.”  We use unfermented grape juice in our celebration.

Most often the congregation is invited by the ushers to come forward to receive and partake of the elements of communion by intinction, where you will be offered a piece of bread, which you will then dip into the chalice (cup) and partake.  This may take place at the communion railing or elsewhere in our worship space.  Sometimes we serve bread (bread cubes) and grape juice (in small cups) which are given by the communion servers and pastors at the communion railing.

Holy Baptism

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is administered by our pastors upon request and with proper preparation of the parents and/or individual being baptized.  Baptisms normally take place during our worship services on the third Sunday of the month.

Membership

Official membership is not necessary for participation in any church program or to receive pastoral services.  Membership is rightfully seen as an extension of our Baptism and can demonstrate a commitment to this local congregation of the United Methodist Church.  One can become a member of this congregation through a letter of transfer or through a profession of faith.  A New Member Orientation is offered several times throughout the year and is required for membership.  If you would like to learn more about the New Member Orientation, or if you would like to participate in the orientation, please call the church office.

Music Ministry

Our excellent music program consists of the Early Bird Choir (8:00 worship, 2nd and 4th Sundays), Chancel Choir (11:00 worship), Handbell Choir, Children’s Choir, Orchestra, and Praise Team.  In addition, we make use of soloists, instrumentalists, and ensembles to bring the Gospel message to us during our worship and special occasions.  Rehearsal times are printed in the weekly schedule found in the bulletin.

Signs of the Cross

This group of signers meets every Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.  Sign language is a form of communication for all people, not just the deaf.  Sign of the Cross expresses worship and music through sign.  They participate in Sunday morning services, talent show, and other church related activities.

Outreach Theater

The theater group at LPUMC brings the Gospel to life in a variety of settings.  From large musical productions to dramas as part of worship, this group of talented people provides a fresh understanding of the Gospel.  We are always looking for new talent to work on the technical and acting sides of the stage.
